OUR STORY
Nam Seng Chan was founded and established in the 1968 by Mr. Ng.
Mr. Ng started his career at the age of 17, as apprentice, learning the art of handmade joss sticks in Hong Kong. At 19, he travelled to Malaysia to learn the art of candle making for three years before migrating to Singapore to reunite with his family.
Skilled, knowledgeable, and passionate in the art and trade of joss sticks and joss paper, Mr. Ng started his first job in Singapore for a small traditional family-owned joss paper shop at Syed Alwi Road.
At the age of 27, Mr. Ng started his own small business with his wife at Maude Road. In 1970, Mr. and Mrs. Ng moved to Circuit Road and settled down to start a family and continue their joss paper business, Nam Seng Chan. Today, Mr. Ng is the proud father of five grown up children and six grandchildren.
Mr. Ng dedicated his life to preserving the philosophy and culture of joss paper. In his free time, Mr. Ng enjoys Chinese calligraphy, art, literature, current affairs, and cycling.
Nam Seng Chan is well known for its personalised touches that has seen its heritage and services preserved for over 50 years.
